Get to know Curt with a Q&A:

1. What is one fun fact people may not know about you?

When we were fortunate enough to find ourselves in Paris, my wife and I took the stairs up the Eiffel Tower to avoid a 2-hour long line for the elevator (totally NOT part of the plan).

2. What is your favorite activity to do in Lincoln or your favorite place to eat in Lincoln?

I love trivia nights at local breweries, especially music related. And I think we have some great local places to grab great food and drink — I’m a fan big fan of Copal, the Oven, Dish, Toast, there are so many!

3. What hobbies do you most enjoy?

One of my favorite things to do is take a Saturday late-morning trip to Fareway or Nebraska Surf & Turf — I swear you can hear angels sing as you walk in the doors — and choose a couple cuts of meat and fish (and probably a few snacks). Then marinate, season, and get them on the smoker or grill until they’re perfect. Crack open a great beer or mix up a cocktail and it’s been a good day. And I promise, dad, there will be more golf played this year!

4. Why is the White Cane Foundation important/appealing to you?

I’ve lived in Lincoln for all of my 47 years, and I’m one of the lucky ones. I love this city and I want its future to be bright. So when I think of the kids I knew when I was a student, and I see the children of today whose families are really struggling, I think it’s important that collectively, we help these families and kids thrive. And if they’re worried about the very basics in life, like clothing and being able to care for themselves, how are they going to focus on excellence in the classroom? They may lack confidence and feel unsure about many things. We can fix that. We can help these kids feel comfortable and confident, so they can feel more free to be their best selves.
